4–6 Weeks Before Moving

  • Set your moving date

  • Book movers or reserve a truck

  • Start decluttering (sell, donate, discard)

  • Gather packing supplies (boxes, tape, markers)

  • Notify landlord (if renting)

3–4 Weeks Before

  • Begin packing non-essential items

  • Label boxes by room + contents

  • Take inventory of valuable items

  • Arrange school/work transfers if needed

2 Weeks Before

  • Transfer or set up utilities (electricity, water, internet)

  • Update your address (banks, subscriptions, IDs)

  • Confirm moving company details

  • Continue packing (leave daily essentials)

1 Week Before

  • Pack most of your belongings

  • Prepare your “first day” essentials kit

  • Withdraw some cash for moving day

  • Clean as you go (old place)

Moving Day

  • Double-check all rooms before leaving

  • Supervise loading/unloading

  • Keep important documents with you

  • Do a quick clean of your old home

First Day in Your New Home

  • Unpack essentials first (bed, toiletries, kitchen basics)

  • Check utilities are working

  • Inspect for any issues or damages

First Week After Moving

  • Fully unpack room by room

  • Organize storage spaces

  • Dispose of boxes and packing materials

  • Meet neighbors and explore the area

Pro Tip

Don’t try to do everything at once. Focus on priority areas first—bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen—then work your way through the rest.
